Dear Colleague, On behalf of the ESNA Committee it is my pleasure to invite you to participate in the XXXV Annual Meeting of our Society to be held in Amiens, France. The venue of the ESNAmeeting is the University of Picardie Jules Verne, Institute of Technology. Amiens is an historic cathedral city, located in the valley of the Somme 100 km north of Paris, an area of great agricultural importance within France. It is readily accessible by road and rail from Paris and the international airports. The beautiful city of Amiens is famous for its Hortillonages, a series of small islands separated by a canal system and linked by a network of bridges. Our hosts have chosen the Institute of Technology (IUT), Department of Biology, University of Picardie Jules Verne, as the location for our meeting. This famous University with its long tradition of research and teaching in agricultural, horticultural and related subjects will provide an ideal venue for this meeting of our Society. Professor Jean-Claude Laberche and his colleagues have identified a particular theme for this year’s Meeting: “New Alternatives for Agricultural Resources”. This theme will be a focus of plenary lectures and a specific workshop organised by Prof. M. T’Kint.I am sure we will all have a memorable and scientifically stimulating meeting in Amiens and I look forward to meeting with you there at the end of August 2005!
